Answers to our most frequently asked questions....

What is a Professional Home Organizer?
A Professional Organizer is someone that helps you to overcome clutter and disorganization to make your life, less stressful and your time, more efficient. They use tested principles and expertise to enhance the lives of clients by designing custom organizing systems and teaching organizing skills.  They help individuals take control of their surroundings, their time, their paper piles, their lives!  They can help you purge items, sort them and find permanent homes for them so that you can find your stuff when you need it.  They can also work with you to maintain your success after the initial organizing sessions. It is recommended that people only use Certified Professional Organizers to make sure they are getting the highest quality of service and not just someone that is doing this for a hobby to earn money.  Another recommendation is they are registered with NAPO.

What is NAPO?
The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) is the leading authority in the field of organizing in which I am a member of and registered with.  Today, NAPO has over 4000 members, including members living in Canada, Japan, Australia, and more.  The mission of NAPO is to “develop, lead, and promote professional organizers and the organizing industry.”  NAPO’s members demonstrate their professionalism, expertise and service to those looking for advice in the field of organizing.

Why hire a Professional Home Organizer?
Disorganization leads to higher stress levels and reduced productivity. Think of all the time you waste looking for your keys, that bill you need to pay, your son’s permission slip and more. In your home office, can you find all your files? Organization helps us get things done. You may want to hire a Professional Organizer to help with one big project you’ve been wanting to tackle, or, if a circumstance has caused disorganization, such as a death in the family, a new baby, a job change, a move…or anything in-between.

What should I expect when hiring a Professional Organizer?
A Professional Organizer should not judge you or your disorganization. They should keep your information confidential. You should expect friendly, courteous discussion of your items, questions about your goals and daily habits and suggestions for systems and ways of making organizing easier. What will a Professional Organizer do that I can’t do myself?
A Professional Organizer from Heart to Heart Life Coaching LLC creates easy-to-follow systems to help you stay organized. Sherée is there to help you through the entire process if you so desire.  Accountability is also a huge part of keeping things in order while you are developing new habits.  A Professional Organizer will used objective eyes and creative mind and help you step back, regain clarity and view your situation in new ways.

Every time I think I’ve gotten myself organized, it works for a couple of weeks and then starts to fall apart. What is going wrong?
Trying to use an organizing system that doesn’t mesh with the way you think is like trying to shove a square peg into a round hole. Sherée will start by establishing your goals and vision for your space.  She will find out what your organizing style is.  She will ask you many questions and make suggestions based on what she thinks will work for you.  And she’ll work with you to change the habits that have made it difficult for you to stay organized in the past.

If you’re having trouble staying organized after the work is completed and you need help staying motivated, you may want to purchase a package and span them out over a number of weeks.  This way you can keep in touch with Sherée for that extra help and accountability.  

Can't I just buy a book and do this myself?
Books are great for inspiration and education. However, they can’t lead you through an organizing project like an experienced organizing coach.  Besides, we all have situations unique to us.  Can a book do this?
  • Listen to your pain and talk with you about how to best move forward.
  • Make recommendations to suit your lifestyle and brain type.
  • Customize a system for your style of organizing and items.
  • Follow up with you by phone and email to see how you are progressing.

What will a Professional Organizer do that a housecleaning service won’t?
If you want your house cleaned up, then it’s better to hire a housecleaning service.  Cleaning and organizing are not the same.  When you have stacks of papers or stuff spilling into living space that’s not supposed to be there… you need a Professional Organizer. When your flip-flops stick to a bathroom floor that’s coated in residual hairspray, you might want to consider a housecleaning service.  :-)  To clean means, well, to clean. To run the vacuum, wash the dishes, do the laundry, dust, mop, take out the trash and scrub the tub.  Each is a separate task requiring separate actions. When we organize together,  you make decisions about what to keep and why, we create systems customized to your own needs - not one-size-fits-all, we decide how to utilize your things and make them work within your environment, we give every item a home or a place so you stay organized and not go back to the original condition, along with teaching you the tricks of the trade, and giving you more organizing skills.

Can’t a friend or family member help me get organized?
Yes… You know you have found the right friend or family member to help when they are:
  • An excellent project manager who is able to keep you focused and on task.
  • A confident leader who can help you make swift decisions.
  • Educated in the principles of organization and current on the latest techniques.
  • Well-connected with many professional resources.
  • Well studied in the psychology of clutter.
  • Able to remain totally objective throughout the project.
  • Non-judgmental and compassionate; won’t feed into your feelings of guilt or shame.
  • Won’t make you feel forever emotionally indebted….all while making you laugh and have fun during the project!

What are the benefits of getting organized?
EVERYTHING!  You will find yourself having more time, less stress, you will know where everything is located (which saves time and huge headaches), and it will make your life easier and, more importantly, happier. Your environment plays a huge part on your attitude, outlook, and even blood pressure levels. When it’s in disarray, that will reflect and play an immediate part on your life. It makes life so much simpler when your environment is organized, clean, and it’s easy to find things.

How long does it take to get organized?
That depends on how much space we’re organizing, how quickly you make decisions, how long has the clutter been collecting, how long you can sit in one place and stay focused on what we are working on, how cooperative and supportive are other household members (if any), how detailed do you want your organizing system.  Each organizing session is different and each person is different.  Organizing is a process, not an end result. 

Which type of areas do you service?
We will tackle from your children’s playroom to your kitchen pantry. Will my sessions be confidential?
Absolutely ! Sherée's practice is all about “TRUST”….gaining it, building it, and maintaing it.  Confidentiality and discretion are paramount !  All meetings, conversations, and questions are between you and Heart to Heart Life Coaching LLC and it’s up to you to state who you want involved from your side.  To see other guidelines we stand by, please read the Code of Ethics page.

What if I only need you for a few hours?
That’s fine !  We charge by the hour but also have Hourly Packages at reduced rates.  See our packages HERE.  

What geographical areas do you serve?
Since Sherée is a Virtual Organizer and Life Coach there are no boundaries. For local sessions, like Document Scanning or setting up a home office, Sheree's geographical area is within 25 miles of the 60102 area code.  For clients outside a 25 mile radius from her office in Algonquin, additional travel charges will apply for organizing sessions. 

What type of clients do you have?
Our clients come from all walks and strolls of life. They are people who are ready and willing to step into the changes before them or to forge a new path by making change happen. They are parents-to-be and retirees, homemakers, single parents and business people on the go, artists and medical practitioners, small business owners and directors of nonprofits, professionals and students, and everyone in between.  My clients range from those with chronic disorganization challenges to those who are incredibly organized. Yes, that’s right, even the most organized people want and need to refine and revise their spaces and systems!

What takes place at the initial meeting?
I will ask you to orient me to your situation and organizing challenges and to describe the things you’re hoping to achieve in our work together.  I will ask you questions in order to develop an understanding of your goals.  We will want to focus only on your project(s) at hand because that is what you are paying for.  As we talk, Sherée will begin to draft a Client Profile/Needs Assessment Form.  This will serve as a blueprint for how you and Heart to Heart Life Coaching LLC can go about achieving your organizing goals.  A “one size fits all” does not work in organizing and we work hard to understand and support your unique goals and needs.

Will I have to buy new furniture or a lot of organizing products?
Not necessarily. If you’re like a lot of people who crave order, you’ve amassed a number of organizing products. I will strive to use items you already own. You may need to purchase some organizing supplies. If storage is an issue for you, some types of furniture or shelving may be necessary. Of course whether or not to purchase items will be completely up to you.

I have a lot of things that mean a great deal to me. If I hire a Professional Organizer, do I have to throw a lot of things out?
“Organized” does not mean “Sparse”.  It does mean surrounding yourself with things you love.  Anything you discard will be your decision alone. If space is a problem in your home, you’ll almost certainly need to part with unneeded or unwanted items in order to attain your goals. I’ll help you identify those items and guide you in your decision making. But I won’t make you get rid of anything that you don’t want to.

What can I do to prepare for your visit?
No need to tidy up!  It’s important for me to see the spaces as they are. It gives me a lot of insight into how you think and function. Seeing your spaces as they are helps me make recommendations for systems that will work specifically for you. Piles provide valuable clues!  Many people are embarrassed about their clutter or perceived disorganization. Sherée is not in this business to judge…she is in it to organize….doing what she loves !  Where you see clutter, she sees solutions!  

What are your rates?
We charge a competitive hourly rate and also have packages.  Please see the Rates page.  Each client’s situation is different so each organizing project can be designed around what works for your budget.  Heart to Heart Life Coaching LLC is prepared to provide whatever level of service you find most helpful.  We also have a 6 Months, NO INTEREST, NO PAYMENTS available when you use PayPal.

I’m not sure I can afford to hire a Professional Organizer?
The cost of clutter and being disorganized can be quite expensive. How often have you bought duplicate items because you weren’t able to find something at the time you needed it? How many times have you had finance charges assessed to your credit card bills because you lost track of what needed to be paid? Have you frequently been late or missed out on events and opportunities because you couldn’t keep track of your schedule or find your keys in time?

The time and money you invest now to get organized will multiply itself back to you, once you have taken back control of your life and possessions.  As the clutter is cleared, space is opened for prosperity to flow. You begin to think more clearly and creatively. Is it worth the money?
When you hire a Professional Organizer, you make an investment in your future. Being disorganized is expensive. It hampers your productivity and costs you time when you can’t find what you’re looking for. Just think what you could do with the time you now spend dealing with your stuff. If you’re disorganized in paying your bills, you might be paying late charges and higher-than-necessary interest rates on credit cards. Freeing your time and your mind by overcoming your barriers to getting and staying organized can pay dividends you can’t even anticipate now.  When there is a clog or a leak in your plumbing you call in a pro to remedy the situation and get things flowing back on the right course. Likewise, when you feel stuck with a project or you are losing funds due to unsupportive systems in your life, you can call in an organizer. How much longer can you afford to not be more organized?

What is your Cancellation Policy?
I value my time as I know you do yours plus also there are times when a client would like an appointment with me A.S.A.P., so I would appreciate a 48 hour notice for any cancellations or schedule changes. Appointments cancelled/changed less than 12 hours of a scheduled appointment time will incur a cancellation charge which will be the full fee of your scheduled appointment time.  See full police HERE.

What if you can’t do everything that I need?
I will recommend the right person for the job if I know of someone.

Can you help me increase my productivity?
Yes. Together we can discuss your commitments, your to-do lists, calendars, priorities, and all other matters related to organizing your time. Sherée can help you implement techniques to gain productivity.

Can you help organize my home office?
Yes. Because the home office is often a unique blend of work and personal lives, it should be accorded great importance. Sherée can also help you create a focused work space with order to handle your work and the duties of running a home business if you'd like.

Can you help me organize my computer?
Yes. Sherée can help with organizing files and systems for your home computers. Electronic organization is a growing challenge for many, as we move our lives from papers to electronic documents. Knowing where to find your work in your computer is just as important as knowing where to find your stuff.  This of course would be for local clients.

Do you organize apartments?
Yes.  Sherée helps people organize any size home.

Is there any benefit for me if I refer any of my friends and family to you?
Client referrals are always appreciated and are the highest compliment a client can give us.  This is actually the “heart” of Shereee's business.  Refer a NEW client to us and if they sign a contract for a package YOU receive one 1/2-hour complimentary appointment as a special thank you for EACH CLIENT you refer!  BUT also, THEY receive one 1/2-hour complimentary appointment. So please spread the word about Heart to Heart Life Coaching LLC.

How do I get started?

Do you offer gift certificates?
Give the gift of organization.  For obvious reasons I love the idea of giving the gift of time with a professional organizer; however, the answer to this question is yes, but… I recommend that you hint around about it first because we do not offer refunds.  The Heart to Heart Life Coaching LLC gift certificates make unique and wonderful presents and many existing clients find this is a wonderful gift for a new mom, colleagues, the hard-to-buy friends and/or relatives or anyone that could use an extra set of hands.  Sherée also has Life Coaching services.  Please go to Heart to Heart Life Coaching website and you may see what else she offers.  YOU can also HINT to someone that YOU would like a “Gift of Assistance”.
